Maison Atia
Est. 2017
Atelier Mendel & Carleton College
Chloe Mendel, who was raised in New York City by French and Taiwanese parents, grew up being surrounded by the ever-changing fashion industry. She trained in the atelier of her father, Gilles Mendel, and she also collaborated on his inaugural haute couture collection, which was shown in Paris in July 2016.
Being the sixth generation family member of the house of Mendel, Maison Atia was born out of the love of fashion from Chloe and her business partner Gustave Maisonrouge. She aims to continue the family tradition of fine quality and craftsmanship that has been present in the house of Mendel for generations, designing each piece like a stand-alone work of art.
Co-founder, Gustave Maisonrouge, graduated from Carleton College with a Major in Dance and a focus in Economics. He was raised in a world where business strategy in the luxury world was part of family dinner conversations, his life was filled with anecdotes from a passion for this world. Gustave decided to follow his passion for luxury and started his career at Hermès as a fragrance specialist at their first Parfumerie before Chloe asked him to co-found Maison Atia as her business partner.
Maison Atia’s aim is to disrupt the faux fur market by translating the luxury touch of real fur to a new material. It encourages creativity and curiosity by designing limited collections to empower women through self-expression.
